What defined Com.Pact Records

Com.Pact Records was an Israeli psytrance label formed through a partnership between OGM/Only Good Music and Germany’s Medium Records network. Surviving label histories identify Gaddy Marian, known as DJ Bog, and DJ Bim of Medium/MIDIJUM as the people who established the imprint.

Com.Pact became closely associated with the bright, energetic Israeli full-on sound of the early and mid-2000s. Its catalogue is particularly tied to the Afula generation around Sesto Sento, Bizzare Contact, Cosmic Tone and related artists.

How Com.Pact Records developed

The label began as a trance division within the OGM/Medium partnership and later operated more independently. Through the 2000s it released a steady sequence of artist albums, EPs and compilations, building an international profile as Israeli full-on became one of psytrance’s dominant festival sounds.

Com.Pact later became associated with the Boa Group structure. The label name appears to have fallen out of active use after 2012, with no convincing evidence of a later revival.

People, organisation & management

Gaddy Marian/DJ Bog is documented as label manager and co-founder, while DJ Bim—owner of Germany’s Medium/MIDIJUM operation—was the other founding partner. A&R roles later included figures such as Tal Cohen/Auspexx and Sunshy. The label’s business structure changed over time as it moved from the original partnership toward greater independence and later Boa Group association.

Sound, roster & A&R direction

Full-on psytrance is the defining Com.Pact sound: bright leads, punchy compressed kick-and-bass production, large melodic hooks and direct festival energy. Progressive trance also appears in the catalogue, but the label’s historical reputation is inseparable from the Israeli full-on boom.

Place in psytrance history

Com.Pact helped carry the Afula production network into the international psytrance market. It provides a particularly clear snapshot of how a local cluster of Israeli producers developed into one of the most recognisable global sounds of the 2000s.

Scene impact & cultural reach

The label demonstrates how tightly connected local artist communities could scale through international distribution partnerships. Its Israeli/German organisational roots mirrored the cross-border infrastructure behind much of early-2000s psytrance.

Key releases & catalogue moments

Early Sesto Sento releases, Bizzare Contact’s Plastic Fantastic, Cosmic Tone’s mid-2000s catalogue and the Afula On compilation are central markers of Com.Pact’s peak period. The label remained in use into the early 2010s before fading from active release schedules.
