Biography
Cosmic Tone is an Israeli psytrance project that emerged during the 2000s, when full-on and progressive psytrance were becoming increasingly intertwined. The project built its reputation through melodic, polished production that could work in both daytime festival sets and more driving club contexts.
Across albums, singles and collaborations, Cosmic Tone developed a style based on clean bass, broad melodic themes and carefully controlled builds , not the harsher edge of night-time full-on. That approach placed the project alongside the Israeli artists who helped soften the boundary between full-on and progressive trance during the mid- and late-2000s.
Cosmic Tone has continued releasing music well beyond its original breakthrough period. The project is therefore best treated as a long-running working act, not simply a legacy name from the full-on era. Its importance is less about a single landmark record than about sustained participation in the melodic Israeli psytrance continuum.
Origins of Cosmic Tone
Roi Nissan developed Cosmic Tone after earlier DJ work as DJ Nissan and a period travelling in Asia and Australia; he dates the project to 2000.
Early career
A major party in northern Israel helped connect Nissan with Trancelucent Productions, leading to Overwhelming (2003) and Going Solo (2004).
How the career developed
Wake Up (2005) and Singularity (2006) document a shift toward Full-On. Nissan later balanced releases and international performances with mixing/mastering work before completing the seventh album Resources with IONO in 2019.
Cosmic Tone sound
Cosmic Tone blends melodic full-on and progressive psytrance, favouring warm bass, bright leads, clean transitions and an uplifting but still psychedelic festival sound.
Place in psytrance history
Cosmic Tone represents the melodic/sunrise side of the Israeli 2000s Psytrance-to-Full-On transition, with a long album catalogue spanning Trancelucent, Com.Pact and IONO eras.
