Biography

Yahel Sherman emerged from the Israeli trance scene in the late 1990s and quickly developed a sound that sat between psychedelic Goa roots and the broader club-trance world. His early career is closely connected to HOMmega, but from the beginning Yahel’s music was more stylistically open than a single Psytrance label suggests.

The debut For the People was followed by Waves of Sound in 2000, an album that helped establish Yahel’s blend of Goa-derived melody, Psytrance rhythm and progressive trance sensibility. Private Collection in 2001 broadened the palette further through Tech-Trance, ambient and tribal ideas, setting a pattern for a career that would repeatedly cross between psychedelic and mainstream trance contexts.

Yahel remained active across both club and festival scenes for decades rather than belonging exclusively to one. The project is still current in 2026, with new collaborative releases demonstrating that Sherman continues to work inside the modern trance and Psytrance network.

Origins of Yahel

Yahel Sherman’s Psytrance activity is documented from 1997, placing the project inside the late-1990s expansion of the Israeli trance scene.

Early career

For the People established the first album phase, followed by Waves of Sound in 2000. These records combined Goa and Psytrance foundations with a broader progressive trance sensibility.

How the career developed

Private Collection in 2001 widened the sound into Tech-Trance, ambient and tribal territory. Later releases increasingly crossed between Psytrance and mainstream or club trance instead of remaining fixed inside one specialist scene.

Yahel sound

Yahel’s releases span Psytrance, Goa-derived trance, progressive trance and broader club-oriented electronic music. Progressive Trance and Progressive Psytrance should not be treated as automatic synonyms when describing different periods.

Place in psytrance history

Yahel is historically significant as one of the Israeli artists who connected the psychedelic vocabulary of the late 1990s with the much larger international trance market of the early 2000s.

Connections and influence

Important connections include HOMmega, Infected Mushroom, Erez Eisen, Amit Duvdevani and the wider Israeli club and Psytrance scene.

Yahel today

Yahel remains active in 2026, including new multi-artist collaborations that continue to place the project inside the current trance and Psytrance network.
