Biography
Dado is the commonly used artist identity of French producer Frédéric Holyszewski, one of the most interconnected figures in early European psychedelic trance. Classically trained on piano and flute, he initially pursued science before leaving that path in the mid-1990s to concentrate on music. His breakthrough came through Transwave with Christophe Drouillet, one of the projects that helped define the first European wave of Goa trance.
Holyszewski simultaneously developed the solo project Deedrah, later expanding into Synthetic, Krome Angels and many other collaborations. The Dado name therefore works best as the umbrella identity for the producer rather than as a single isolated discography. Across these projects he moved from melodic Goa trance into tighter psytrance, full-on, progressive and more club-oriented electronic production without abandoning the technical studio discipline that characterised his early work.
Few artists illustrate the collaborative structure of psytrance as clearly as Dado. His career runs through French, Israeli and international scenes, connecting Transwave’s mid-1990s Goa period with later full-on and progressive networks. Treating the projects separately while recognising Holyszewski as the common creative centre gives the clearest picture of his unusually broad influence.
Origins of Dado
Dado is Frédéric Holyszewski's public producer nickname/credit, prominently associated with the QuestionMark production centre in Paris in the late 1990s.
Early career
QuestionMark Anthology Volume One captures 1997–1998 work and collaborative tracks; Digitale extends the chronology into 1999.
How the career developed
Holyszewski's wider career diversified through Deedrah, Transwave, Synthetic and other projects. Dado remained a personal/professional credit but should not absorb those project discographies.
Dado sound
Dado’s work spans Goa Trance, Psytrance, Full-On and progressive electronic music through several distinct projects. The common thread is precise studio production, strong sequencing and a willingness to move between styles rather than protect one fixed formula.
Place in psytrance history
The Dado credit is a useful map into the collaborative late-1990s Paris Psytrance production network around QuestionMark and the crossover between French Goa/Psytrance projects.
