Biography

Deedrah is one of the principal solo identities of French producer Frédéric Holyszewski, widely known as Dado. Before establishing the project, Holyszewski had already helped shape the first French Goa-trance wave through Transwave. Deedrah gave him a separate platform for music that could move beyond the boundaries of that group while retaining the studio sophistication developed during those formative years.

The 1997 album Self Oscillation is the key early milestone. Its combination of Goa trance with breakbeat, classical and other electronic ideas makes it more varied than the later Full-On label sometimes attached retrospectively to Deedrah’s entire catalogue. By Reload in 2001 the project had moved decisively toward the punchier sound that would become central to early-2000s Full-On, with Body & Soul following in 2003.

Later work broadened again. Out of Control in 2012 incorporated progressive, psychedelic and tech-funk elements, while Holyszewski continued to operate other projects separately. Deedrah remains active in 2026 alongside renewed Transwave activity, making the solo name an ongoing part of his career instead of merely a historical alias.

Origins of Deedrah

Deedrah emerged as Frédéric Holyszewski’s solo outlet after his early success with Transwave. The project belongs directly to the French Goa-trance lineage but was designed to give him more room to explore outside the group format.

Early career

Self Oscillation in 1997 established Deedrah as a distinct project. Its stylistic range included Goa trance, breakbeat and more experimental electronic elements, so the album should not be retroactively described as straightforward Full-On.

How the career developed

Reload in 2001 marked a stronger move into the emerging Full-On language, followed by Body & Soul in 2003. Later releases such as Out of Control widened the palette again toward progressive and tech-funk influenced electronic music.

Holyszewski has maintained several separate artist identities across his career. Those projects overlap through personnel and studio history, but they remain distinct catalogues rather than interchangeable names.

Deedrah sound

Early Deedrah sits in Goa Trance and Psytrance with experimental and breakbeat elements. The early 2000s brought a pronounced Full-On phase, while later work moved through broader psychedelic, progressive and tech-funk territory.

Place in psytrance history

Deedrah is an important bridge between first-wave French Goa trance and the international Full-On expansion of the early 2000s. The project also demonstrates how one producer could move between multiple stylistic eras without discarding an established artist identity.

Connections and influence

Key connections include Transwave, HOMmega, Spun Records and Holyszewski’s other projects. The solo discography should be discussed alongside those relationships without collapsing them into one discography.

Deedrah today

Deedrah remains active in 2026. Festival programming during the year has listed Deedrah and Transwave separately, confirming that both identities continue to exist in parallel.
