Release context
Remixer is not a conventional Sesto Sento studio album. Released in 2005, it turns the group's catalogue over to other producers, with remixes connected to names such as GMS, Protoculture, CPU, Silicon Sound, Aquatica and Visual Contact. That makes it a useful snapshot of Sesto Sento's position in the mid-2000s scene: their tracks had become established enough to invite reinterpretation by peers from several corners of psytrance.
The album also sits neatly between The Bright Side and Come Together. Instead of rushing straight into another set of originals, Sesto Sento used a remix project to widen the sound around their existing material. It gives the catalogue a different kind of continuity, showing how their melodies and structures translated through other producers' studio approaches.
