Apsara Festival

Apsara Festival is a biennial Suntrip Records gathering devoted to Goa Trance, with a deliberately old-school and melodic psychedelic character.

Apsara Festival

Apsara Festival at a glance

Instead of covering the full Psytrance spectrum, it is curated toward melodic and acidic Goa, old-school lineages and selected adjacent psychedelic sounds. Its focused programming makes it unusually useful for documenting the living Goa scene as a distinct culture instead of only as Psytrance history.

How Apsara Festival evolved

The first Apsara Festival took place in Ludos, Romania, in 2018. The planned 2020 edition was cancelled during the pandemic period. The festival returned in Hungary in 2023 and again in 2025, establishing a biennial rhythm.

Music, programming & dancefloors

Goa Trance is the defining sound, including classic, melodic and acidic Goa as well as carefully selected darker, Suomisaundi and psychedelic material that fits the festival’s old-school orientation.

Role in psytrance festival culture

Apsara is important as a modern specialist festival preserving Goa Trance as an active scene instead of treating it only as a 1990s precursor.

Place, setting & atmosphere

Rural camping gathering; later editions have been held in Hungary after the 2018 Romanian debut.

What sets Apsara Festival apart

First held: 2018. Setting: Hungary (current edition); founded at Ludos, Romania. Current status: Active.
