Free Earth Festival

Free Earth Festival is a Greek beach-based Psytrance gathering founded in 2013, combining broad psychedelic programming with specialist label stages and a strong community-and-ecology identity.

Free Earth Festival

Free Earth Festival at a glance

Free Earth Festival began in Greece in 2013 and developed into a deliberately international psychedelic gathering. Its modern identity is strongly tied to northern Greek coastal venues, where a large Psytrance programme sits alongside chill and alternative electronic spaces, visual art, workshops, healing activities and a temporary festival village.

How Free Earth Festival evolved

The festival launched in 2013 at Ancient Olympia beside the Alfios River and returned there in 2014. Later editions moved through Azapiko and, from 2023, the Asprovalta area. The 2026 edition is the ninth chapter of the festival and continues the northern-Greece beach format.

Music, programming & dancefloors

Psytrance is the central language of Free Earth, with a deliberately broad main-stage spectrum that reaches from progressive and full-on into classic psychedelic styles. Separate stages give stronger space to Forest, Darkpsy, Psy-Techno, Dark Progressive and psychedelic downtempo. Label showcases are used to keep specialist scenes distinct rather than flattening the programme into one generic trance category.

Role in psytrance festival culture

Free Earth is important to the modern Greek Psytrance scene as a durable international gathering that rebuilt a large-scale outdoor festival identity after the early-2000s Samothraki era. Its beach setting, label-hosted stages and multinational audience connect contemporary Greek festival culture with longer Mediterranean Psytrance traditions.
