Biography

Wrecked Machines is the psychedelic-trance project of Brazilian producer Gabriel Serrasqueiro, better known in later work simply as Gabe. He entered electronic music around the turn of the 2000s in São Paulo, moving quickly from experimentation into professional releases and international touring at a time when Brazil’s psytrance scene was expanding at remarkable speed.

The project became one of the first Brazilian psytrance acts to achieve sustained recognition outside the country. Tracks such as “Trancespotting” and “Rounders”, along with album releases connected to labels including Spun Records and Solstice Music, placed Wrecked Machines squarely in the high-energy full-on movement of the mid-2000s. Serrasqueiro’s production combined large basslines, bright hooks and polished festival dynamics with a distinctly Brazilian scene identity.

As Serrasqueiro’s career broadened, the Gabe name became increasingly important for his house and techno work, while Wrecked Machines came to represent the psytrance-focused chapter of his discography. Wrecked Machines helped carry Brazilian Psytrance from a rapidly growing local movement into the international touring and label network of the era.

Origins of Wrecked Machines

Gabriel Serrasqueiro created Wrecked Machines in 1999, with released material appearing from the early 2000s onward.

Early career

The project moved from Brazil’s developing late-1990s/early-2000s Psytrance circuit into international labels and touring. Blink (2003) established the first album period and Second Thought (2005) consolidated Serrasqueiro in the international Full-On network.

How the career developed

Wrecked Machines became a collaboration hub linking Brazilian Psytrance with GMS/Spun, Pixel and other Israeli/international Full-On artists. Serrasqueiro later launched the separate Gabe identity rather than renaming Wrecked Machines; he has periodically revived Wrecked Machines for dedicated Psytrance performances.

Wrecked Machines sound

High-energy Full-On Psytrance with polished basslines, bright melodic hooks and direct festival structure. The sound belongs strongly to the international mid-2000s full-on era rather than to later progressive or hi-tech branches.

Place in psytrance history

Historically significant as an early Brazilian Psytrance act to achieve broad international recognition during the genre’s 2000s Full-On expansion. The project is particularly useful for documenting Brazil as a producing scene, not only a festival market.

Wrecked Machines today
