Biography
Alien Project is the stage name of Israeli producer and DJ Ari Linker. He was already performing in Goa during the 1990s, placing him close to the period when Israeli artists were transforming Goa trance into a new domestic and international psychedelic-trance scene. By the start of the 2000s the Alien Project name had become his primary vehicle for a more direct, club-focused sound.
The debut album Midnight Sun arrived in 2001 on Phonokol and included extensive collaboration, notably with Astrix. Further releases pushed Alien Project toward the crisp basslines, bright leads and compact arrangements that became strongly associated with Israeli full-on. Linker also worked through related projects such as Alien vs The Cat with Space Cat and Save The Robot with Ido Liran, extending the same network across different collaborations.
Alien Project belongs to the generation that connected late Goa-trance culture with the polished full-on era that followed. The project’s importance is therefore less about a single stylistic invention than about continuity: a producer active early enough to absorb the original Goa scene and established enough to help shape the internationally dominant Israeli psytrance sound of the next decade.
Origins of Alien Project
Ari Linker was DJing/producing and performing in Goa from 1994; the major Alien Project album period begins in 2001.
Early career
Built experience in Goa and the international Psytrance circuit during the 1990s before Midnight Sun.
How the career developed
Midnight Sun (2001) established the project internationally. The 2002–2004 catalogue moved into the more direct full-power Israeli sound while retaining Goa-derived melody. Activation Portal (2007) represents a later studio phase. Alien Project later continued alongside Save The Robot and renewed live activity.
Alien Project sound
Israeli Psytrance moving from Goa-influenced roots toward the streamlined, melodic Full-On sound of the early 2000s. Strong basslines, clean leads and direct dance-floor arrangement became central to the mature style.
