Biography
Avalon is the principal solo psytrance project of British producer Leon Kane. After earlier work in Reality Grid, Kane developed Avalon into a more direct dancefloor project and established the project internationally around the end of the 2000s. The 2010 debut album Distant Futures placed him firmly within the UK Full-On generation and already showed the collaborative instinct that would remain central to his career.
During the following decade Avalon became one of the most visible artists in the NANO Records network. his discography expanded through solo releases and partnerships with figures including Tristan, Dickster, Ajja, Astrix and Ace Ventura. He also built separate collaborative projects instead of folding every partnership into the Avalon name: Killerwatts with Tristan and Future Frequency with Sonic Species are important examples.
Albums including Rise refined a sound based on fast rolling basslines, muscular percussion, bright psychedelic detail and strong melodic control. Avalon is still releasing music and touring internationally in 2026, alongside his collaborative projects.
Origins of Avalon
Leon Kane developed Avalon after working in the collaborative project Reality Grid. The exact pre-debut start date is less clear than the project’s early discography, but Avalon was firmly established by the 2010 release of Distant Futures.
Early career
Distant Futures connected Avalon immediately to the UK and international Full-On network, with collaborations involving Dickster, Tristan and Cosmosis. Those relationships became a foundation for the project , not a one-off feature of the debut.
How the career developed
Avalon’s 2010s work deepened his relationship with NANO Records and broadened his network of collaborators. Separate projects such as Killerwatts and Future Frequency allowed Kane to explore other combinations without blurring the Avalon discography.
By the time of Rise, the project had developed a polished signature that could move between specialist psytrance festivals and larger electronic stages while remaining recognisably rooted in Psytrance.
Avalon sound
Avalon’s core sound is modern UK Full-On Psytrance: tightly controlled rolling bass, forceful percussion, detailed psychedelic effects and melodic hooks designed for large dancefloors. Some collaborations introduce more progressive or crossover elements, but the main project remains firmly psychedelic.
Place in psytrance history
Avalon is a major representative of the post-2000s British psytrance generation and an important link between the older UK Goa lineage and the globally connected NANO-era festival sound. His career is particularly notable for the density of long-running artistic collaborations surrounding the solo project.
Connections and influence
Avalon’s strongest connections include NANO Records, Tristan, Dickster, Ajja, Sonic Species and the wider UK psytrance community. His collaborative projects are significant in their own right and should not be collapsed into Avalon as simple aliases.
Avalon today
Avalon remains fully active in 2026, with new music and confirmed international shows. Recent work includes the multi-artist collaboration The God Molecule with Tristan, Burn in Noise and Altruism.
