*Mahâ-Wave* is Hilight Tribe’s 1999 debut album and the first full-length in the group’s long-running catalogue. At this stage the project was already combining electronic production with live percussion, acoustic instruments and performance ideas that would later become central to its identity.
The record is important because the group’s later “natural trance” concept did not appear from nowhere. *Mahâ-Wave* shows those ingredients in an early form, before Hilight Tribe refined the balance between tribal instrumentation, live energy and psychedelic electronic music across the albums that followed.
