Transition Festival at a glance
Transition Festival is an Andalusian Psytrance gathering organised by the cultural association Transition Crew near Almonte in Huelva. A specialist history dates its beginning to 2007 as a secret rave that gradually developed an international community around music, nature and full-moon ritual. The site lies in pine forest roughly four kilometres from Almonte in the surroundings of Doñana, where the central clearing and old trees form a distinctive natural dancefloor.
The conflict is still uncertain. Transition remains active in 2026 with a six-day/night '17 Years Psytrance Festival' programme.
How Transition Festival evolved
The festival continued through the 2010s at the Almonte forest site. Current pages identify Transition Crew as the organiser and present Transition Experience 2026 as an active six-day and six-night Psytrance gathering. Exact edition numbering is therefore treated cautiously rather than imposed as a perfectly annual sequence.
Music, programming & dancefloors
Transition is fundamentally a Psytrance festival with a strong underground and night-oriented spectrum. Ambient material appears without a distinct Psychill identity. Current Parvati, Looney Moon and other psychedelic bookings reinforce the continuing Psytrance centre without treating every booked artist as a permanent genre classification.
Role in psytrance festival culture
Transition's importance is less about scale than continuity of an underground ritual/community model. It grew from a secret-rave origin into an international gathering while retaining full-moon, forest and transformation language. Camping is described as a place where community begins, and the organisers frame the dancefloor, silence, water, shared space and surrounding nature as parts of one experience.
Transition belongs to the small-to-medium European Psytrance festival tradition, with an emphasis on returning community, landscape and dance ritual over spectacle alone.
Place, setting & atmosphere
The site is a pine forest about four kilometres from Almonte, in the surroundings of Doñana. Guidance stresses that water is brought into the site, asks participants to limit use, requires rubbish management, restricts open fire because of Andalusian conditions and treats the forest as an active part of the experience.
What sets Transition Festival apart
Transition Festival grew from Spain’s underground psytrance culture into a long-running forest gathering near Doñana. Its identity is shaped by an intimate pine-forest setting, an all-night psychedelic dancefloor culture and a musical range that moves through Psytrance, Goa, Full-On, Darkpsy and Forest.
