Biography
Crazy Astronaut is one of the solo artist identities of Moscow electronic musician Nikolay Golutvin. In a Shankra Festival interview Golutvin explicitly says Furious and Crazy Astronaut are not separate people but his pseudonyms: Furious is the freer experimental outlet, while Crazy Astronaut was designed as a more melodic, rave-oriented fusion drawing on drum and bass, acid and Psytrance. Insomnia Records independently identifies Golutvin and lists the Crazy Astronaut album Renegade among his projects. Developed from Nikolay Golutvin’s broader electronic-music practice after drum-and-bass production and the experimental Furious Psytrance identity. Exact first-use year of the Crazy Astronaut name remains less secure than the 2009 Renegade album milestone. Golutvin’s earlier psychedelic work under Furious emphasized non-melodic sound design and experimentation. Crazy Astronaut was intentionally developed as a more melodic and rave-oriented identity blending techniques from drum and bass, acid and Psytrance.
Renegade became the key early album through OSOM Music. Later work moved across high-speed Psytrance, rave, experimental electronic music and collaborations with Kindzadza, Waio and Montti, with releases through OSOM and HOW2MAKE. A major Russian Hi-Tech/high-speed Psytrance identity whose melodic and rave-oriented approach demonstrates that Hi-Tech is not simply Darkpsy made faster. Golutvin’s distinction between Furious and Crazy Astronaut clarifies that they are separate artist identities.
Active artist channels and festival promotion continue into 2026–2027; a March 2026 Instagram post and Spiritgust 2027 festival announcement indicate continuing activity.
