Beyond 2001 was Trance Control's first commercial album, initially released in August 2000 after the Swedish duo had built an online following. The later Resurrection edition restored the continuous-mix album in remastered form rather than creating a new studio album under an old title.
The record captures Alexander Carlborg and Andreas Wennersköld before their original partnership ended and before Wennersköld became associated with Gaudium. Its melodic and euphoric trance sound also shows that Trance Control belongs to a different branch of trance history than the psytrance projects elsewhere on ViralFlowMusic.
