Release context
*Trance* is California Sunshine’s 1997 debut album and the beginning of the project’s unusually large late-1990s catalogue. Miko and Har-El Prussky were already active in the Israeli trance scene, but the album gave California Sunshine a full-length identity at a time when Goa trance was rapidly expanding internationally.
Because several albums followed in quick succession, the debut is best viewed as the opening chapter of a highly productive period rather than an isolated landmark. The melodic, distinctly Israeli approach heard here would continue to develop across *Imperia*, *Nasha* and the records that followed.
