Release context
Drop The Mask is a 2003 Gataka album released by Phonokol Records and belongs to the early full-length phase of Matan Kadosh's project. Gataka developed during a period when Israeli full-on psytrance was expanding rapidly, and Phonokol was one of the labels distributing that sound to a wider international audience.
The album begins a notably productive run. Home Made Madness followed in 2004, In Trance We Trust in 2005 and Bless The Mess in 2007, so Drop The Mask works as the opening chapter of a sustained mid-2000s catalogue rather than a standalone debut-era curiosity.
