*Flying Eye Land* was released in 2000, carrying California Sunshine into a new decade after the intense run of late-1990s albums. By this point the project already had a sizeable catalogue, so the record comes from an established phase rather than the early rush of defining the name.
The timing is useful because psychedelic trance itself was changing around 2000. Goa trance was giving way to newer production styles, and California Sunshine’s work from this period sits directly inside that transition while still retaining the melodic character that made the project recognisable.
