What defined Echoes Records
Echoes Records is an Israeli electronic label founded in Tel Aviv in early 2006. It grew from the overlap between Israel’s Psytrance community and the wider progressive club world, releasing music by artists with strong Psytrance connections while deliberately keeping the label’s own identity broader than Psytrance alone.
How Echoes Records developed
The label began in 2006 with a stated aim of collecting fresh, forward-looking productions from the international progressive scene. Over time its catalogue moved comfortably between progressive trance, progressive house, techno and Psytrance-adjacent material, with artists such as Son Kite, Gaudium, Rocky, Mindwave, Freedom Fighters, Headroom and Lifeforms appearing in the catalogue.
That crossover position is central to understanding Echoes: it belongs to the period when many Israeli psychedelic artists were increasingly working across adjacent progressive and techno scenes instead of remaining inside strict Psytrance boundaries.
People, organisation & management
DJ Osho, Oshry Ben Simon, is closely associated with the label’s management, with later label profiles also naming Elad Ohana in management. Echoes is based in Tel Aviv-Yafo and has operated as an independent specialist electronic label.
Sound, roster & A&R direction
Progressive electronic music is the broad identity. The releases include progressive trance, techno and music made by producers rooted in Psytrance, but Echoes should not be described as a pure Psytrance label. Its strength is precisely the space between those scenes.
Place in psytrance history
Echoes reflects the mid-2000s stylistic exchange between Israeli Psytrance and the international progressive/techno circuit. It gave established psychedelic artists room to work in less narrowly defined club formats and helped document that crossover period.
Scene impact & cultural reach
The label illustrates how fluid the boundaries around Psytrance became in the late 2000s and 2010s, particularly in Israel, where producers often moved between psychedelic, progressive and techno audiences without abandoning their original scene networks.
Key releases & catalogue moments
The releases include work by Son Kite, Gaudium, Rocky, Mindwave, Freedom Fighters, Headroom and Lifeforms, alongside a wider set of progressive and techno releases. Its Bandcamp archive preserves both original tracks and later remix projects.
