What defined Chemical Crew

Chemical Crew was created in Israel around the career of Skazi and became one of the most visible labels associated with the harder, rock-influenced side of 2000s Israeli full-on psytrance. The imprint brought together Skazi’s own releases with a wider network of artists whose music combined aggressive trance production, distorted guitars and large-scale festival energy.

How Chemical Crew developed

The label expanded rapidly during the early and mid-2000s as Skazi’s profile grew internationally. Its roster and compilations gathered projects such as Exaile, Void, Psychotic Micro and other acts from the Israeli full-on scene, creating a recognisable ‘crew’ identity around a particularly forceful branch of the genre. The label’s peak belongs to the CD-era full-on boom , not the current streaming period.

People, organisation & management

Asher Swissa, the central figure in Skazi, is the founder and owner most clearly associated with Chemical Crew. The label was closely tied to his artist network and touring ecosystem, so its history cannot be separated from Skazi’s rise as a major international psytrance act.

Sound, roster & A&R direction

Full-on psytrance is the core, often with an unusually aggressive rock and industrial influence. Distorted guitar riffs, hard basslines, dramatic breakdowns and high-impact arrangements became recurring features, setting Chemical Crew apart from more melodic Israeli labels of the same period.

Place in psytrance history

Chemical Crew captured one of the most commercially visible strands of early-2000s Israeli psytrance. Its catalogue reflects the period when full-on became a dominant global festival sound and when artist-led label crews increasingly functioned as touring brands as well as record companies.

Scene impact & cultural reach

The label fused Psytrance with rock imagery, branding and touring in a way that broadened the scene’s visual and commercial vocabulary during the mid-2000s.

Key releases & catalogue moments

Skazi’s major early-2000s releases, Chemical Crew compilations and albums from associated acts such as Exaile and Void define the label’s most important period.
