Space Safari at a glance
Space Safari began in May 2016 at Beekse Bergen near Hilvarenbeek in the Netherlands as a Lost Theory crew production. The festival returned to Beekse Bergen in July 2017, then moved into the Belgian Ardennes chapter at Domaine de Massembre by 2018. The modern festival is intentionally broader than a single Psytrance floor.
Its current programme divides music across several environments, while the Supernova stage is explicitly dedicated to Psytrance and Goa Trance. Other stages cover acid, techno, tekno, dub, live music and house, making the festival a broad psychedelic multi-stage gathering , not a single-genre event. Space Safari remains active.
The 4–7 September 2026 edition at Domaine de Massembre, Hastière, and EVENTIM identifies CVBA Future Media as the current legal promoter.
How Space Safari evolved
The first Space Safari took place 13–15 May 2016 at Beekse Bergen, Hilvarenbeek, under the Lost Theory crew banner. A second Dutch edition followed in July 2017. The Domaine de Massembre chapter continued through at least 2025 and 2026.
The woodland, rivers and ponds is integral to the setting and asks attendees to minimise impact, recycle and leave no trace.
Music, programming & dancefloors
The strongest stable identity is Psytrance plus Goa Trance. Historical programmes also ranged into darker psychedelic music and other electronic styles. Full-On and Progressive Psytrance are not stable festival-wide identities.
Darker programming appears historically, but the festival does not specifically define it as Darkpsy.
Role in psytrance festival culture
Space Safari extends the Lost Theory scene network into a woodland festival format built around psychedelic staging, camping, art and community as well as music. Its cosmic stage vocabulary and the contrast between the dedicated psychedelic Supernova floor and alternative electronic/live stages show how Psytrance can sit at the centre of a deliberately eclectic festival. The relocation from a Dutch leisure-site setting to Domaine de Massembre also became part of its identity, foregrounding the Ardennes forest, rivers and ponds as a shared environment instead of merely a backdrop.
Place, setting & atmosphere
Current guidance frames Domaine de Massembre as a sensitive woodland environment and explicitly asks attendees to clean up, recycle, avoid using nature as a toilet and leave no trace. These are operational expectations, not an independently audited sustainability certification.
