Mo:Dem Festival at a glance
Mo:Dem Festival is a Croatian psychedelic gathering built around a deliberately narrow musical and visual philosophy. That curatorial stance remains central to Mo:Dem's identity. Instead of presenting the widest possible spectrum of trance, the festival emphasises deep psychedelic and dark sounds, paired with major investment in stage design, projection, visual art and site-specific production.
The combination of musical selectivity and ambitious visual construction has become one of its clearest cultural signatures.
How Mo:Dem Festival evolved
The first Mo:Dem edition was held in 2012. He wanted a larger format in which production, art and underground music could be developed beyond the limits of one-night events. The festival grew into a multi-floor international gathering in Croatia.
Its history includes significant disruptions. Sijarto recounts a 2018 fire that destroyed festival inventory and severe flooding during 2019 production. The planned 2020 and 2021 editions were rescheduled during the pandemic, with tickets transferred to the 2022 event.
As of August 2026 Mo:Dem is active: the 3–9 August 2026 edition took place in Primišlje and music applications for 2027 are already open.
Music, programming & dancefloors
Mo:Dem's sound is unusually explicit. The Swamp applies a related psychedelic philosophy at slower tempos, while the overall festival uses several dance floors to explore different intensities. Its core styles are Psytrance, Darkpsy, Forest Psytrance and Experimental Psytrance.
The festival’s curatorial centre is broader than Goa Trance, Full-On or Progressive Psytrance; occasional artists or teaser-party styles do not define its overall identity.
Role in psytrance festival culture
Mo:Dem has been influential within the darker and more experimental wing of international Psytrance culture because it treats curation, sound, stage architecture and visual production as one unified aesthetic. The festival also places unusually strong emphasis on art direction. The festival adopted projection mapping and CNC-assisted stage construction early, with substantial investment in visual environments.
This makes Mo:Dem significant not only as a Darkpsy/Forest-oriented music event but as a reference point for the high-production visual language of contemporary psychedelic festivals.

What sets Mo:Dem Festival apart
Mo:Dem is characterised by tightly curated deep/dark psychedelic music, large-scale art and visual production, three developed dance-floor environments, and a strong year-round production culture. Milestones and disruptions include the first edition in 2012, a destructive fire in 2018, major flood damage during 2019 build work, and the pandemic rescheduling of the 2020/2021 cycle into 2022.
