The story behind Tripticon

Tripticon was the mid-1990s project of Malmö producers Filip Mårdberg and Fredrik Gilenholt. After their earlier Sector experiments, the pair adopted the Tripticon name around 1995, circulated demos and DATs through the international trance network, and eventually secured an album release with Stockholm-based Tsunami Records. The Seventh Portal appeared around 1999, shortly before the duo shifted toward the groovier progressive direction that became Ticon. Formed in Malmö by Filip Mårdberg and Fredrik Gilenholt as the direct successor to their Sector project. The pair circulated demos internationally and used DAT exchange to build contacts while continuing to DJ.

A deal with Stockholm-based Tsunami Records led to The Seventh Portal around 1999; the next stylistic step became Ticon. Tripticon is the released bridge between the duo’s formative Sector period and Ticon, preserving the stage at which their home-studio experiments became a publicly available releases.

Historical project superseded by Ticon around the end of the 1990s. Directly linked to Sector and Ticon through the same two members.
