What defined Tsunami Records
Tsunami Records was a Stockholm-based trance imprint active in the late 1990s. Its clearest place in psytrance history comes through Tripticon, the early project of Filip Mårdberg and Fredrik Gilenholt before they became much better known as Ticon.
The label issued Tripticon’s album The Seventh Portal in 1999, capturing the pair at an early stage when Scandinavian progressive and psychedelic trance were still developing the stripped-back, groove-conscious language that would become much more prominent in the following years.
How Tsunami Records developed
Tripticon’s history places Tsunami Records in Stockholm and describes the label offering the duo an album deal in the late 1990s. That relationship produced The Seventh Portal in 1999.
Surviving documentation for the wider label is limited. Because several unrelated labels have used the Tsunami Records name—including later labels outside Sweden—the ViralFlowMusic page treats this Stockholm identity as a distinct historical imprint and does not attach modern Tsunami websites without evidence that they are the same organisation.
People, organisation & management
The Stockholm imprint appears to have operated independently. Founders, management personnel and a complete catalogue have not been established with enough confidence to publish as fact.
Sound, roster & A&R direction
Its documented output belongs to the late-1990s trance and psychedelic-trance continuum, with the Tripticon album providing the strongest musical reference point.
Place in psytrance history
Tsunami’s importance is concentrated rather than broad. By releasing Tripticon before the Ticon name took over, it forms part of the prehistory of one of Sweden’s best-known progressive-psytrance acts.
Scene impact & cultural reach
The label is a useful reminder that important artist careers often passed through very small regional imprints before the international progressive-psytrance network became more formalised in the early 2000s.
