Release context
The Seventh Portal is the key release by Tripticon, the Malmö project of Filip Mårdberg and Fredrik Gilenholt before they adopted the Ticon name. A deal with Tsunami Records brought the duo’s home-studio work into a formal release context around 1999 after years of demos, DJing and DAT exchange.
That makes the album the clearest bridge between their formative work and the later Ticon catalogue. Tripticon did not simply disappear; the project evolved into a new identity as the pair’s production became more focused, so The Seventh Portal preserves the stage immediately before that transition.
