The story behind Illuminus
Illuminus is the Swedish psychedelic dub and ambient project of Dennis Tapper, known for Hux Flux, and Magnus Holte. The pair developed the project as a separate outlet for slower psychedelic music, combining electronic production with dub space, live flute, vocals and ethnic instrumentation. After earlier material circulated in the Scandinavian psychedelic scene, their first full-length album Sweep Dreams was released by Z-Plane Records in December 2015. Illuminus material appeared in the Scandinavian psychedelic circuit before the duo completed a full album.
Sweep Dreams, released in 2015, established Illuminus as a distinct album-length duo project with its own dub-ambient identity. Illuminus represents Dennis Tapper’s downtempo and dub-oriented work beyond Hux Flux and shows the wider stylistic range of the Scandinavian psychedelic scene.
Later activity after 2015 is unclear. Directly connected to Hux Flux through Dennis Tapper while maintaining a separate sound and catalogue with Magnus Holte.
