Release context
The *THING EP* was released in October 1999 and revolves around one composition presented in several forms, including an intro, album edit, vinyl edit, another alternate edit and a beatless soundtrack version. The project's own archive describes “Thing” as a cinematic tech-trance piece and explicitly links it to the darker direction The Delta was helping to open up at the time.
It also acts as a bridge into *Scizoeffective*, where “Thing” reappeared in the context of a full album. That makes the EP important less for variety than for the way it isolates one idea and shows how aggressively The Delta were moving away from conventional late-90s Goa structure.
