Release context
*Scizoeffective* was released in January 2000, shortly after the *THING EP*, and turned The Delta's stripped, mechanical approach into a full-length statement. The album includes “Thing”, tying it directly to the EP that had introduced the piece a few months earlier.
Rather than treating these titles as disconnected catalogue entries, it makes more sense to hear them as stages in the same experiment: stripping trance down, toughening the rhythmic language and pushing The Delta away from the brighter Goa conventions of the period. In catalogue terms, it is the release that makes the project's direction unmistakable: less psychedelic ornament, more pressure, repetition and industrial weight.
