Release context
*Awaken* is Merkaba’s 2010 album on Zenon Records. The eight-track record sits squarely inside the label’s deep, minimal and psychedelic aesthetic, but Merkaba brings a more organic and tribal emphasis to that framework.
The project’s own description centres ideas of shadow and light, mind, emotion and ancient memory, and those themes are a genuine part of how Merkaba presents the music rather than decorative mythology added later. *Awaken* is therefore one of the clearest early statements of the project’s spiritual and rhythmic identity.
