Release context
Uncanny Beats is a 2007 Furious album released by Insomnia Records. The label described Furious as part of a new generation of Russian psytrance producers and emphasised the record's experimental, uncompromising approach, with nine long tracks designed around heavy bass, abrupt detail and constantly changing psychedelic textures.
It followed another Furious solo album by roughly a year, so this was not a debut but a rapid next step from an artist already gaining international attention. Uncanny Beats became especially representative of the harder Russian psychedelic sound that Insomnia was helping export at the time.
