What defined Dooflex Records

Dooflex Records was the lighter-facing sublabel within the Israeli Doof Records family. Where Doof had built a strong reputation around darker psychedelic trance, Dooflex gave the organisation room to release more melodic, full-on and progressive-leaning material without diluting the identity of the parent label.

The imprint became especially associated with U-Recken and Nitro. Their music kept a strong psychedelic core but aimed for a warmer, more expansive dancefloor feel than the darker material for which Doof itself was best known.

How Dooflex Records developed

Dooflex was active by the middle of the 2000s and became a clearly recognised part of the Doof family. U-Recken’s Aquatic Serenade appeared through the imprint in 2006, followed by Deeper Into Man in 2008. Nitro was also closely identified with Dooflex during the same period.

A contemporary Doof interview describes the artists as part of a wider Doof “family” centred around UV and Zirkin, combining label activity, parties and a long-running festival culture.

People, organisation & management

Dooflex was a sublabel of Doof Records , not a separate unrelated company. The available material supports the shared Doof-family structure, but not a distinct legal founding team or ownership entity for Dooflex itself.

Sound, roster & A&R direction

The imprint leaned toward full-on and melodic psychedelic trance, often with progressive or minimal touches. It offered a softer and more open-ended counterweight to the darker side of the parent Doof catalogue.

Place in psytrance history

Dooflex shows how established psytrance organisations used sublabels to manage stylistic range. Instead of stretching one brand across incompatible sounds, the Doof family created a second imprint with its own tone and artist identity.

Scene impact & cultural reach

The label also reflects the close connection between Israeli psytrance labels, artists and party crews during the 2000s, where releases, events and artist development often operated as one extended scene network.

Key releases & catalogue moments

Key releases include U-Recken – Aquatic Serenade (2006), U-Recken – Deeper Into Man (2008) and late-2000s Nitro material.
