BMSS Records — Brother Moon Sister Sun — is a German-based international Psytrance label founded in 2009 and led by Boom Shankar. Instead of building its identity around one narrow subgenre, BMSS has consistently treated psychedelic music as a broad continuum, releasing Goa Trance, Full-On, progressive Psytrance, forest, techno-influenced material and downtempo music under the same wider philosophy.
How BMSS Records developed
The label developed from the Brother Moon Sister Sun creative network into a formal release platform in 2009. Over the following years it built a large international catalogue and a roster spanning Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
BMSS has remained unusually resistant to short-lived stylistic trends. Older Goa influences sit alongside modern Psytrance, forest and more experimental material, allowing the catalogue to evolve without losing its broader psychedelic character.
