Release context
Freestyle is Rastaliens' 2002 album on Balloonia Records and follows the earlier Hologram EP. The move from a compact EP into a full-length release gives the project more room to establish its own identity within the European psychedelic-trance scene of the early 2000s.
Balloonia provides useful continuity between the two releases. Rather than appearing as a one-off label stop, Freestyle builds directly on the same relationship and marks the point where Rastaliens' catalogue expands from shorter vinyl-era material into a complete album statement.
