Music Is More Than Mathematics is the 2014 album that most clearly documents Protoculture's move into the wider progressive and main-floor trance world. Released through Armada Music, it is a fifteen-track project with vocal collaborations, radio edits and a presentation much closer to the global trance market than to the psytrance album format of Refractions or Circadians.
The change was evolutionary rather than a complete break. Nate Raubenheimer kept the melodic focus that had always defined Protoculture, but placed it inside a broader production language and a different label network. In catalogue terms, the album marks the point where Protoculture's identity became genuinely cross-scene rather than primarily psytrance.
