*Basic Tribal Pattern* is Mekkanikka’s 2003 album on Spirit Zone Recordings. It belongs to the early phase of Nikka’s catalogue, before the long association with labels such as Nutek and United Beats became central to the project.
The title already points toward something that remained important in Mekkanikka’s music: a strong rhythmic foundation and a fascination with travel, tribal imagery and dancefloor movement. Later releases became more polished and festival-oriented, but this album shows those ideas near the beginning of the project’s development.
