Release context
*Rebirth* is Ace Ventura’s debut album, released by Iboga Records in 2007. Yoni Oshrat had already built a major profile as part of Psysex, so the album was not the beginning of his career; it was the point where the Ace Ventura identity became a full-length project in its own right.
Iboga’s notes describe the record as the result of a long writing process, and the track list includes collaborations with Liquid Soul, Intelabeam and Lish. That combination helped define Ace Ventura’s version of progressive trance: heavier and more psychedelic than a purely minimal progressive sound, but still built around patience, groove and gradual development.
