Release context
Ouroboros - Past opens Captain Hook's three-part Past/Present/Future remix idea, using earlier material as the starting point rather than presenting a conventional new studio album. Released by Iboga Records in February 2024, it gathers twelve reinterpretations and makes the remixers part of the story of Captain Hook's catalogue rather than treating them as bonus material.
The concept suits a producer whose work has continually shifted between psytrance, progressive and more experimental electronic forms. Instead of simply repackaging old tracks, the Past chapter looks back through other artists' ears, giving familiar pieces a different scale and perspective before the series moves on to the Present chapter.
