Earth Frequency Festival at a glance
The 2026 edition returns to Woodfordia from 23–26 October, continuing the festival into its third decade. Earth Frequency Festival is an independent four-day music, arts, lifestyle and environment gathering in South-East Queensland. The 2026 programme explicitly places psytrance alongside techno, bass, progressive, house, funk, soul, reggae, world, downbeat and chill.
Earth Frequency is active in 2026. Its 21st edition is scheduled for 23–26 October 2026 at Woodfordia, following the festival's twentieth-anniversary edition at the same venue in 2025.
How Earth Frequency Festival evolved
The project grew instead of being launched fully formed as a major festival. The event later became established at Ivory's Rock/Peak Crossing in South-East Queensland. For its twentieth anniversary in 2025 it moved to Woodfordia near Woodford and returned there in 2026.
The festival has not missed a year in more than two decades, including difficult periods affected by floods, fires and the pandemic; this continuity is part of the festival's own historical account.
Music, programming & dancefloors
Earth Frequency began in the overlap between Queensland doof culture, landcare/community gatherings and electronic music, but its identity broadened substantially. Generic “progressive” language is broader than Progressive Psytrance, while Goa Trance and Full-On are not established as stable core identities for the festival.
Role in psytrance festival culture
Earth Frequency is significant in Australian psychedelic/electronic festival culture because it joins doof ancestry to a wider transformational-festival model instead of treating music as the sole activity. Its long-running independent structure, art and performance programme, workshops, family spaces and emphasis on community have made it a durable South-East Queensland cultural gathering. The festival explicitly frames itself around community, diversity, nature, creativity and independent expression, and says it has operated without corporate sponsorship, alcohol sales or major government funding throughout its history.
Place, setting & atmosphere
Environmental responsibility is present from the event's origin story: the first gathering was a landcare/tree-planting party. These are practices/ethos , not an independently audited sustainability certification.
What sets Earth Frequency Festival apart
