Release context
The Beast Within is a 2007 Xerox & Illumination album released on HOMmega Productions, arriving after the duo had already established a distinctive darker full-on identity. By this point Moshe Keinan and Amir Dvir were not simply combining two artist names; Xerox & Illumination had become a recognisable project with its own production language.
The album sits in a particularly strong period for HOMmega's Israeli catalogue and captures the duo's industrial edge at full scale. Its importance becomes clearer when placed beside later retrospectives such as Creatures of the Night and Revisions, both of which return to this era and demonstrate how durable the Xerox & Illumination sound proved to be.
