Release context
Sonic Species grew from Joe Markendale's UK psytrance work into a long-running international project, with the debut album Unleash The Beat establishing the core identity. Later releases gradually widened the production palette while keeping the project centred on direct, melodic dancefloor writing.
The First And The Last (Groove Addict Remix) belongs to the post-Unleash The Beat phase of Sonic Species, when Joe Markendale was building the catalogue through singles and collaborations rather than rushing into another album. Each of these releases helped refine the project's modern melodic sound over several years.
