Release context
Rabbit From Darkside is Rinkadink's debut album, released in 2004 after Vana had already spent several years producing and playing around the psychedelic trance circuit. The record is important because it turns the project from a run of singles and compilation appearances into a full-length identity, with the mischievous, sample-heavy approach that would stay associated with Rinkadink for years.
The album was written during a period of heavy travelling, with material developed while moving between Japan and England. That background suits the restless character of the record: it feels less like a studio project made in isolation and more like music shaped by clubs, festivals and life on the road. It also established the foundation for Pirate Signal, which followed only a year later.
