Release context
Koxbox belongs to the first wave of Scandinavian psychedelic trance, with a catalogue that reaches back to the early 1990s. The project became known for taking the looseness and experimentation of early Goa trance into stranger, more elastic territory rather than settling into a single formula.
Masters of Psytrance Vol. 1 belongs to the later archival and retrospective side of the Koxbox catalogue. It places older material beside newer presentation formats, helping connect the project's 1990s experimental core with listeners discovering it through digital reissues.
