The story behind NGE Duo
NGE Duo, also styled Nge Duo and expanded as NilsGöran Erixon Duo, is the experimental electronic project of Swedish brothers Jens and Ola Eriksson. The pair are better known in Psytrance as Derango, but NGE Duo is a separate outlet for slower and less genre-bound music built from sample collage, glitch, breakbeat, ambient, IDM and harmonic experimentation. A separate Jens and Ola Eriksson project built around the brothers’ shared non-Psytrance electronic interests. The project appeared on Scandinavian experimental and psychedelic compilations during the mid-2010s.
The 2020 The Enormous Polly Warper EP gave NGE Duo a dedicated release and a clearer identity outside Derango. Useful for tracing how the Eriksson brothers’ psychedelic experimentation extended beyond forest Psytrance into IDM, glitch and chill-oriented electronic music.
NGE Duo released material from the 2015 Sanaton anniversary release through Yggdrasil material in 2017 and The Enormous Polly Warper EP in 2020.
