Biography
Berg is the psytrance project of Israeli producer Shlomi Berg. Emerging in the early 2010s, he developed a style that placed the rolling mechanics of Progressive Psytrance inside a brighter, more immediate festival framework. His rise was closely connected to labels such as Blue Tunes and Spin Twist and to the international expansion of Israeli progressive psytrance during that period.
The 2014 album Life Apart established Berg as a full-length artist instead of only a singles producer. Aurora followed in 2016, while a growing list of collaborations and remixes connected him with artists from the psytrance, trance and broader electronic festival worlds. The project’s sound has generally favoured strong melodic motifs, clean low-end drive and direct builds over darker or more abstract psychedelic approaches.
Berg continues to release both solo and collaborative material in 2026, while remaining close to the crossover between Progressive Psytrance and large-scale festival trance.
Origins of Berg
Shlomi Berg established Berg as a solo electronic and psytrance identity in Israel in the early 2010s. The project quickly became associated with the expanding progressive side of the international psytrance circuit.
Early career
Early releases and festival appearances built momentum through the Spin Twist and Blue Tunes network. Life Apart in 2014 gave the project its first major album statement and clarified its melodic, groove-driven direction.
How the career developed
Aurora in 2016 expanded both the project’s production palette and its collaboration network. Later releases continued to cross between psytrance specialists and wider trance or electronic audiences instead of remaining inside a narrowly underground lane.
Berg sound
Berg works primarily in Psytrance and Progressive Psytrance, using elastic bass grooves, polished percussion, prominent melodies and festival-sized arrangements. The project can overlap with broader progressive trance, but the two terms should not be treated as interchangeable across the entire catalogue.
Place in psytrance history
Berg belongs to the Israeli generation that helped turn Progressive Psytrance into a major festival sound during the 2010s. Berg translated progressive groove structures into a more immediate, high-energy format that reached a broad international audience.
Connections and influence
Key connections include Blue Tunes, Spin Twist and collaborations with artists across the Israeli and European progressive psytrance network. Berg’s work also sits naturally beside crossover figures such as Neelix and Blastoyz, although each developed a distinct production identity.
Berg today
Berg remains active in 2026, with current releases including collaborative material. Recent joint tracks should be credited to all participating artists rather than folded into the Berg catalogue as solo productions.
