Croatian & SlovenianPsytrance Scene

Explore Croatia and Slovenia’s connected but distinct Psytrance histories, from Zagreb and Pula underground networks to Mo:Dem, World of Trance, Forestdelic and DROPS.

How the Adriatic Psytrance corridor developed

Croatia and Slovenia share a touring corridor, but their Psytrance histories remain distinct. The overlap comes from geography, summer festival travel and artist circulation rather than from one unified national culture.

In Croatia, older Zagreb and coastal underground networks eventually fed into Mo:Dem, which became one of Europe’s major homes for deep, dark and experimental Psytrance. Its programming helped give the Croatian festival landscape a particularly strong association with the more underground end of the spectrum.

Slovenia followed a different route through local party crews and a Forest-oriented lineage that includes Forestdelic and DROPS. Together the two scenes form an important Adriatic and northern-Balkan passage while retaining their own organisers, artists and histories.

Movement between forests, coasts and Balkan festivals

The regional importance of this corridor comes from movement. Artists and audiences can travel between Slovenian forest gatherings, Croatian festivals and neighbouring Balkan scenes while encountering noticeably different local cultures.

Mo:Dem gave Croatia exceptional international visibility, while Slovenia’s smaller networks demonstrate how a scene can remain influential without relying on a single giant event.

Croatia and Slovenia as connected but distinct scenes

Croatia and Slovenia are paired here because their festival routes and travelling audiences overlap strongly across a relatively small geographic area. They still have distinct domestic scenes. Croatia's Adriatic festival economy and Slovenia's own clubs, crews and outdoor events should be read as connected histories rather than one merged identity.

Following the regional circuit

Mo:Dem Festival’s volunteer programme offers one of the clearest ways to join the Croatian side of the regional scene, with crew and media applications published through the official festival site.
