Release context
Raw Update 1 marked a substantial return to the album format for Rinkadink in 2020. Rather than trying to recreate the mid-2000s Alchemy years, the seven-track release presents a newer version of the project shaped by more than a decade of touring and changing production technology.
The title is well chosen: it reads as an update rather than a restart. Rinkadink's personality remains intact, but the sound belongs to a later generation of full-on psytrance. The release also began a sequence that would continue with Raw Update 2 in 2024, giving the modern catalogue a clear internal structure instead of functioning as isolated singles.
