Release context
4Real is the album statement from Highcosmos, the project formed by Highko and Cosmo after meeting in India in 2005 and later working together in Berlin. Released through Noise Poison Records in 2006, it captures the duo at a point when fast, dark psychedelic trance was developing rapidly across the European underground.
The project’s history gives the album more context than a simple collaboration credit. Highko and Cosmo treated Highcosmos as a live project, and 4Real became the main document of that partnership. It also sits at an interesting stylistic point between the darker psytrance of the mid-2000s and the faster, more fractured production language that would later become associated with hi-tech.
