Release context
Hallucinogen is Simon Posford's solo psychedelic trance project and one of the defining names of the 1990s Goa scene. Its small studio-album catalogue had an outsized influence because Posford treated trance as detailed studio composition rather than just functional club music.
Twisted is Hallucinogen's 1995 debut album and contains several tracks that became central to Simon Posford's trance catalogue. Its importance comes from the way detailed sound design, long arrangements and unusual psychedelic transitions were treated as the main event rather than decoration around a conventional club structure.
