Release context
FREq was Aran Gallagher's progressive trance project and a major influence on the mid-2000s progressive psytrance sound. The catalogue is compact, but Strange Attractors and the releases around it became reference points for clean production, restrained arrangement and deep rolling grooves.
Alloys is the earliest FREq release currently represented in the ViralFlowMusic catalogue, preceding Strange Attractors (2004). That makes it a useful starting point for hearing the ideas the project would develop more fully on the releases that followed.
