*Drums From The Dawn Of Time* was released by Digital Structures in 2003 and is Etnoscope’s defining full-length album. The project was unusual even within progressive psytrance because live percussion was built into its identity rather than treated as occasional decoration.
That approach fits the Digital Structures period particularly well. The label was closely associated with Scandinavian progressive trance, but Etnoscope brought a more organic rhythmic emphasis into that environment. The album’s importance comes from how naturally those two ideas meet: precise electronic production and a strong hand-played, tribal pulse.
